Graduate Nurse Programs in Orlando. Need advice!!!Rating: (votes: 0) I'm a nursing student at UCF and will be graduating in August of this year. I was wondering if anyone has any information about the graduate nurse programs here in Orlando. My husband is in medical school and we will be moving to another city/state for residency in a year and a half. I am unsure about where to look for jobs when I get out because I can't sign the 2 year contract that FH and ORMC require for the graduate nurse program (as I will only be here in Orlando for a year once I start working). Does anyone know of other hospitals that hire new grads without a contract? Or is there certain floors that will train you without the two year contract requirement? Any information would be helpful! Suggest you post this on the Florida forum-- go to the yellow bar at the top, click on US, and then Florida. Comment:

Hiring GNs is an investment for a hospital, so when you go in as a new nurse it is the institutions responsibility to mold you. That being said, all of the GN hospital programs I know of in central FL want you to commit to at least 2 years. If you can bear to do it, may I suggest, maybe long term care or even a physicians office until you get where you are going to stay after the first year and then you can apply for an acute care position, and a hospital in your new area may even accept you as a GN after your first year and invest the same amount of training as they would if you were right out of school.
