Sickle Cell nurse

I have recently accepted a position as a sickle cell outpatient clinic nurse. I am excited, yet anxious as to what all it entails. Any advice? Anyone else have a similar position?
I don't know anything about the outpatient sickle cell world but I can tell you that sickle cell patients can very challenging to care for when they are in crisis. Severe pain on PCA, oxygen requirement, possibly requiring blood transfusions, risk for acute chest syndrome, impossible to ween off IV meds. On my floor the same patients are admitted over and over again. Poor guys . I'm interested to hear what your position entails. Report back!
