so who has received a sign-on bonus at a new job? How much and how long of a contract do you have to sign? Just curious. . .
Those days are pretty much long gone. It is a buyers market........ for the hospitals.

Comment:
Signing bonus? What's that? No way . . .

Comment:
No sign on bonuses in this area either except for very specialized nurses. There are at least still jobs, so I'm not going to complain.

Comment:
They are starting to show up in job ads around our area again. $1500-$3000 I think. Lots of jobs too.

It wasn't much but I did get one. I got a $250 bonus for the first 40 hours after I finished orientation, $500 after 300 hours and another $500 after an additional 300 hours. I didn't have to sign a contract but it did only apply if I took the NOC shift. As a new grad I was just thankful to find a FT job so the little extra cash was like the cherry on top

Comment:
I had a $4,000 one but that was back in 2008. I believe shortly after I started working the company stopped sign on bonuses for all but the most high need of areas. I had a 2 year commitment anyway,

I had to check the date on this thread when I read the title. I have not seen any bonuses listed in the job ads around here.

Comment:
Haven't seen those since about 2002 or 2003.

Comment:
our facility policy is NO sign-on bonuses. However, we award a bonus to employees who refer someone we hire for a particular position. These awards have time limits and jobs to fill are posted. For instance, right now we want 3 critical care nurses and a CRNA. If I referred someone who is hired, and stays at least a year I get $5000, half in 6 months and balance in 12 months. Once those positions are filled the offer dies.

Comment:
I just signed on for twenty-four months with a $10,000 bonus.

Comment:
We still have them for super-trained, specialized OR nurses. And we're talking super trained......J

Comment:
Unless you are bringing some serious skills to the table, I'd be leary of any facility offering a sign on bonus these days. If they are they desperate for help, especially if you are a new grad, there's likely a very good reason they are offering a bonus and it doesn't mean anything good for you.
