Medication info in EMR? & other Med teaching tips!Rating: (votes: 0) I recently joined a new committee in my hospital to try and improve our HCAHPS scores relating to educating patients on their medications with each med pass. We've realized that as a lot of our nurses are new grads, the general knowledge of medications by even our nursing staff is a bit lacking. One of the things we thought would be most helpful would be to have some general teaching points (Indications, Dose, Frequency, Common Side Effects/ Considerations) come up in the MAR when we scan the medication. I wanted to see if any of you work in hospitals or health care facilities where your EMRs directly populate medication info and what computer system you use. (While we do have access to Micromedex, it requires opening the internet browser, going into a separate window... during a full caseload med pass, few rarely have time for this.) Any other helpful tips on what you do in your facilities to ensure staff are educating patients on their medications would be greatly appreciated for my committee!! Thank you! |
