Wellness Nurse??Rating: (votes: 0) What can you tell me about the job description of a Wellness Nurse? Hours worked? Demographics? Pay rate? Stress level? Depends on where you want to work as a Wellness Nurse and for what company.... Comment:
I received an offer for a Wellness nurse position.... the pay was 19/ hr. with hours limited to avoid paying benefits.I tried not to laugh.

I was a Wellness Nurse for awhile, for elderly people living in the community (not in any sort of nursing home). Hours were daytime (flexible, depending on what needed to happen), no weekends or holidays, and pay was the same as nurses in local hospitals were getting.I was at a community center most of the time. People dropped by to see me, and I'd do blood pressure, blood sugar, other odds and ends things. I did lots of advertising. I ran community education programs too, and travelled a bit to present them. I did some research on the impact such a nurse could make on quality-of-life too.It was a great job.

Hi Whispera,Commenting on this post a few years after yours. I'm wondering what you did before and after working in Wellness. I am currently working for almost a year in Wellness as a "Nurse Advocate" doing what you described, as well as more case management and occasionally helping a NP and MD. I'm questioning going into NP school and when and not sure if I need the few years of hospital experience. I graduated last year so besides camp nursing, this was my first real nursing job (and still is currently.)
