I missed a week in a job while still on probation. My father is ill and I am his primary caretaker. My supervisor was on vacation and I called in every day. The last day I called in my supervisor was on vacation. His supervisor, HIS MOTHER then called me to find out why I did not call. I told her I had left a message for him, (which I had done everyday that I was out). She told me that he was on vacation. She then told me to let her know when I would be back to work and gave me her cell. I called her the next morning told her my dad was out of the hospital and she told me I would not be coming back to the clinic I was in because the dr. was upset by the time of my absence. She told me she would be placing me in another clinic. I have heard nothing since, she will not return my calls. I don't know what to do. I am so stressed. I also have a disabled husband who is pressuring me about the money I am not making. I have had to quit 2 jobs because of my dad, but he was doing well for awhile and I need to work. Anyone have any advise?
Sorry about your job. I understand what it's like to take care of a disabled family member. I don't know if you've tried already, but did you look into possibly getting a home care nurse or at least a home health aide for your father? Is he over 65? If so, then I think medicare can pay for some of it at least. If he's younger and disabled, he may qualify for medicaid, or some kind of financial assistance in your region.I don't think you can keep a steady job like that, since even if it's a valid excuse, many places wouldn't want to keep someone on staff who frequently has to be out, especially in health care. You have to find a way to have someone else care for him, if possible. Speak to a social worker.
