Suggestion on getting involoved and accepted to masters programs

I am non-traditional sophmore working my way through an RN program and hope when completed to get accepted into a masters program.

I would really appreciate some advice in how to get involoved in not only helping causes greater than myself, but also to aid in helping me look good on paper when applying to schools. I was hoping your database of knowledge may help lead me in the right direction of being able to give back while going to school and working full time.

I guess I just need some good guidance. Any help would be appreciated!
