Need HELP......studying abroadRating: (votes: 0) Different countries have different models for nursing practice and for educating nurses. There are a bunch of threads here about UK-educated nurses wanting to come to the US to practice, and the hoops they have to jump through to get licensed (you're right, not all their nursing curricula necessarily meet the US requirements (and vice versa)). You may want to review some of those threads (they're in the International Nursing forum). If you attend nursing school abroad, you will be considered a "foreign grad" in the US for the rest of your career (even though you're a US citizen), and have additional requirements you have to meet for initial licensure and any time you want to move to another state for the rest of your career. While the idea of studying abroad has a lot of appeal, if you intend to practice nursing in the US, life will be a lot easier for you if you just go to nursing school here. Is there something else (not a licensed profession ...) that you could study abroad? Or just travel abroad without studying? |
