Defunct past employers

I stopped working as an LPN 9 yrs ago due to health issues. Now that those issues are resolved, I'm ready to return to the profession that I so enjoyed. However, when updating my resume, I discovered that 2 of my previous employers are now defunct. One was a nurse staffing agency, and the other was bought out by Baptist Hospital. When Baptist came on board, apparently they brought in new hires and ceased using LPNs altogether. So there is no record of that group who worked there during that "transition period" of about 3 years that it took for them to complete the full takeover. I dont know what I should list on my resume now because those jobs gave me a wealth of experience in various settings that cant be verified. It looks as though I've only had a year and a half of work in LTC though I had been working 7 years before getting ill. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Do I list them anyway?
List them as you normally would but put a disclaimer next to the name stating what happened such as "OUT OF BUSINESS IN 2005" If you do not put the disclaimer, even though it is not your responsibility to keep up with this, they can discredit your application because they will not necessarily dig to find the information. Several of my employers have changed addresses. I used to try to keep up with that stuff, but realized after some time that it was not quite right. I didn't work for them when they were on "Drury Lane", they were on "Paisley Way", when I worked for them and that is what I write. So far, it has not been a problem. Findable. But not in existence might be a little difficult to deal with. Good luck with your job search.
