new in here and unsureRating: (votes: 0) ![]() W e l c o m e to allnurses, Lizzy! I lurked here for a year before joining myself! You are wisely asking alot of questions! The more you know about what to expect, both in school and out in the job market once you graduate, the less time and money you will waste along the way, and that's super important when your partner in life is not in a stable financial situation either.I can say that your worries about whether you will kill someone is shared by all of us, so shouldn't be a barrier to your ultimate plans. It's a long way from day one of school to day one of your first job as a nurse.Likewise, stating that job stability is a driving force in your decision is OK, too! Not too many of us actually feel a calling from God, and you will do just fine. You may even have some doubts about nursing after you start school. At this stage of the game, knowledge is power. It's impossible for us to know your exact situation, so I advise posting general questions on the Student and pre-nursing forums, and use this time to go into research mode about any nursing route you might be able to take. Your general ed might fill some pre-requisites for an RN program, for example. Be sure to keep your finger on the pulse of your local job market if relocating isn't feasible. You may have noticed lots of new grads struggling to get a job at this time.Whatever you decide, good luck to you! Comment: Welcome to the site and yes it is good to ask questionsI have moved this to the nursing careers forum where hopefully others will answer this. One thing you may want to consider is working as a CNA to give you an idea on what nursing is about. May also want to think about the different routes you can take like LPN then RN if you don't want to commit to going RN straight off the bat. Some suggested forums to look atGeneral nursing student discussion forumLPN/LVN student forumLNP to RN student forumCNA forumComment: Welcome to the group. It is normal to have misgivings. I would pursue your nursing goal by taking online prerequisite courses so that you can optimally maintain employment until your husband is back on his feet. You can do this, it just might go a little slower than you would like due to your circumstances.
