I think it would be a good idea considering a lot of hospitals will not even look at your resume unless you have some kind of EMT certification in addition to being an STNA, CNA, etc. Comment: I would also look into the requirements of your state regarding the paramedic rotations. Just because you can challenge the paramedic exam, many states require you to perform all the hospital and ambulance rotations. Hours may vary according to state. Many nurses who have challenged the exam in my state still had to go through the 240 hours of ambulance ride outs. The hospital rotations are important also. You have to perform so many assistance in maternal deliveries, so many pediatric and adult intubations, etc. I would research that also....Comment: I just got hired in an ER with 6 months of Tele RN experience. I have been an EMT for 8 years. They had been looking for a year med surg and told me my EMT experience gave me an extra push because of the critical thinking used. So I would for for it
