How to become a diabetes nurse educator?

Hello everyone! I am an ER RN..I have been in the ER for 3 years...and I need a change. I am interested in health/wellness and educating the community about such. The only cross between nursing and health/wellness that I have found is a diabetes nurse educator. Are there any other options? I don't want to go and get a whole new degree. I currently have my RN diploma...and am looking into going back for my bachelor's. I just don't know where to go...and actually if I should maybe get a BS in Health Studies instead??

You can totally do what you're wanting to do. Get your BSN, you can even get it online. There are different routes you can go from there. I am sure there are certificates you can get for diabetes education, but you can look into Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) in Community Health Nursing. I believe this is a master's degree. I believe this is what you are looking for. You can also get a master's in public health nursing leadership, which is a MSN as well. Just do some research. There is lots you can do with a nursing license and not have to change degrees. You could probably even take your current degree and go to something like the health dept and work there as a nurse and kind of get what youre going for as well
