Working for a staffing agency as new RN?

I've heard that you shouldn't work for a staffing agency as a new grad - I can appreciate the need for experience when floating, etc. - but are there certain RN jobs out there appropriate for a new grad? Would the staffing agency even consider sending a new grad out for RN jobs? Can I continue working as a sitter for the agency as an RN? (The pay's not great as a sitter but it's something!)
My friend worked for a staffing agency as a new grad. She was sent to long term care facilities to fill in. It involved her being advised to lie and say she had two years experience instead of telling the truth. I never heard from her again so as far as I know, she was able to survive, at least initially. You can expect to have problems, but a job is a job. Just beware of your license. If you find yourself in over your head, best to quit and be unemployed, than to get in deep trouble with your license.
