MN home health nurse wanting to work in a hosp

I recently graduated with an ADN. I have applied for hospital jobs in my area-MN, with no luck. I ended up taking a homecare job. I've really enjoyed homecare, but I would like to get into a hospital to get more experience. I've been told by a few nurses now that once you're a homecare nurse it's hard to get into a hospital- you're "deemed a home care nurse". Is there any truth to this? My other question is if it's becoming crucial to have your BSN to get into a hospital? It seems like here in southern MN hospitals are only hiring BSN grads now...I'd appreciate any and all input-thank you!
You will either meet those who acknowledge that you have experience, or those who will peg you as a home care nurse. You won't know until you get out there and start looking for that hospital job. It would be a positive on your part to start an online RN to BSN program. That way you can state that you are pursuing a BSN when your education becomes a topic of discussion during an interview. Try government jobs or in a hospital outpatient "clinic." Once your in you can get first dibs on applying for jobs internally and the you could apply for those open positions in the hospital. Government hospitals and/or teaching hospitals would be a good bet too. Good luck. Keep applying.
