Thanks SnowStarQuote from SnowStar4Call them and follow up.

Probably best to give them some time to plow through all the applications, or at least download them. If you call them too soon they're just going to say they'll keep you in mind but by the time they actually get to the task at hand they will have forgotten you, along with everyone else who has called to follow up.Also, processing job applications is really stresful for HR -- given that they get hundreds of apps for each position -- so they will probably not respond well to immediate requests for a response. They will be getting plenty of those, too.Not sure what kind of facility it is but even if you had applied in person you probably would have just handed the paperwork to someone in the front office who would tell you they'll pass it on back to HR. So don't kick yourself. The waiting is tough, in the meantime hang in there and just keep applying for jobs.

I would place a follow up call within two weeks. Like mazy said it'll give them a bit of time to run through the applications and send them off to the proper departments for review.I would be careful though with some jobs as they only allow you to apply online due to the high volume of applications they receive on a daily basis and have a strict 'Don't call us we'll call you' policy. One job I applied to stated right on their website that any walk-ins/e-mails/faxes regarding applications would not be acknowledged and when I did a follow up call for another job the answering service said that if you were calling regarding your application that if the company was interested they would call you or e-mail you and that you shouldn't call about it.It stinks when you're playing the waiting game and I'm doing it right now so I wish you luck in your job search.

Don't stress yourself over one job app. BTW, if it is of any solace, where I am, online is the only way they will take an app anywhere. Paper is unheard of.

Frequently I'll give them a week or so then call and basically say who I am, when I turned in an application, and I'd like to make sure they have all the information that they need.

I guess I've done it a tad differently. I looked up the name of the department supervisor or director and contacted that person. Usually, the person in that position is responsible for alerting HR that there is a position to be filled, interviewing personnel for the position, and telling HR that a nurse has been hired.I still fill out the online application, but I try to talk to a human being also.Good luck to you!

It is frustrating. It is hard to stand out for any job when applying online. Maybe you could find out the HR director name and email over a letter of interest ?

Definitely wait at least a week. Shoot, I applied for a job and it took them 3 weeks before they started the interview process. And it's going to take them another 3 weeks to get through the interviews. I don't want the job anymore any as the hours won't work for me, but I thought it was crazy how long it took. The place I applied, you can't look up the recruiter. And the HR rep won't give it to you. They will appreciate you giving at least a week. Then just call to say you're checking up on the status of it. They should be able to give you a good time frame then of what to expect. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the great responses! The place I applied is a bit smaller, so that's why I was kind of kicking myself for not going in personally. I will be patient, though, and wait until next week before contacting them or stopping in. Good idea from LoveMyBugs - I maybe will stop in with another resume etc. Thanks again! I feel much better after hearing the responses.
