1 Once again Yahoo is telling folks to drop the cubicle and go into nursing. I mean come on!!!!!!!!!! If they would check things out they would see many new Grads cannot find work now. They are proclaiming the mysterious 600,000 RN shortage again....................

Well, just like anything in the general media, you have to take it with a grain of salt.

Just today in the Sunday classified there were 30 + job offerings for RN/LPN. I'm in south Louisiana

Quote from April, RNI'm wondering if this has to do with the lack of experienced nurses in specialty areas. The job market in my area is terrible. New grads from two years ago and even some experienced nurses cannot find jobs, yet the ICUs at my hospital hire travelers. I'm thinking it must be cheaper to hire an experienced traveler than it is to train new employees. I don't know for sure... just a thought.

Hospice Nurse LPN, My guess would be that all of the available jobs are for experienced nurses, not new grads. Do you know if they were offering these jobs to new grads?Just curious.

I have also noticed a trend in ICU positions where they used to say 1yr experience required and now it says 2yrs.

They need to stop the lies! Lies all lies!

Sometimes I wonder if yahoo is being paid to throw these little ads out there by someone who can gain financially from it, like "for profit" schools. Just a thought!
