38 I Love being a Nurse!!! Just wanted to share that!

Yes I have had my share of bad days and complaints but when it comes down to it, I love nursing.

I have only been nursing for 3 years but I have continued to learn something new on every single shift and there is an infinite amount of knowledge out there for me to continue to learn!

With so many different paths to take in the nursing profession I know that I can never get bored.

What other career would give me the opportunity to truly help others at some of the the most difficult times in their lives. And the great human strength I have witnessed has allowed me to grow as a person.

I am guilty of focusing on the negative at times but I just wanted to share with everyone right now that I really truly love being a nurse and am extremely grateful that I have been given this opportunity in life.
THANK YOU! Seriously...I am addicted to this website but thereis so much negativity and people complaining about nursing. I start my BSN program in Jan. And have wanted to be a nurse longer than I can remember. But it is so disheartening to see all the negative comments. So THANK you!!!

I love being a nurse too! Yes, it's a little frustrating when the bad days come, but then you learn so much from it that you end up being grateful. I used to be so scared to start IVs but I'm getting a little bit better each time I do it so when I think about the first time I tried and the feelings I had, it makes me smile.

I agree with you 100%. I get tired of all the Debbie Downers posting on here, about how much they hate everything... it's nice to know there's people who love their work as much as I love mine!

I too love being a nurse. working with teen moms is discouraging at times but other times it is amazing. Having the opportunity to help them through a tough time in life is very rewarding. I also know there are many more nursing jobs that I could love too. My mom was a nurse for more than 50 years and did an amazing variety of jobs. She was my inspiration to become a nurse.

Hooray a positive nursing post! I really want to be a nurse but, after reading thread after thread about "I hate nursing!" or "I cry every day after my shift" to "Nurses are nasty and talk down to me" I was seriously becoming discouraged about getting into the profession at all. So let's try to keep this thread going so people like me can see why being a nurse or becoming one is really awesome!
