Is it just the holidays?Rating: (votes: 0) ...up until very recently. Now, we (very possibly including me) have at least been coming across as snotty. My new holiday resolution is to re-read every post I make, at least through the holidays, and attempt to re-write anything that might sound mean or snotty, and make it instead sound kind and helpful. DC, ED NOC RN ADN Abbreviations R Us ![]() Was it a dead friend telling you about the chains you forge in life and to change your way's ? Or we're you visited by the 3 spirits?. Either way its a good idea. I really try not to sound snotty and rude but sometimes it comes out like that. It's a good idea and i think i will try to watch myself as well i do lack Tact at times. TY for your idea These are my thoughts use them as you wish... Comment:
I like that idea myself! I am by nature a very kind and caring person. I try very hard not to hurt others. We all know how stressfull this career path is, and I try to not take it out on others. Merry Christmas!!!NiceNurse LPN

Haven't noticed any change of attitude lately in the posts. Have long attempted to be non threatening, non snooty in my posts. I do however inject humor any chance I get. For instance, 3 Irishmen come out of a bar.........awe c'mon, it could happen!

I hear you. Although, sometimes it is easy to take someone the wrong way or read into it too much when you cannot really get their tone from the text. We do have to deal with enough stress as it is. It is a good idea to try to be umm...more constructive, less aggressive with criticism or replies. My biggest pet peeve is when someone genuinely wants advice, and they are attacked for grammar or how they typed. I will admit to thinking it at times, but moved on, continued reading, and given my reply. Happy Holidays!

I don't think it's just the holidays. Their are some people here that seem to be snotty, condescending and passive-aggressive 90% of the time. I think it's just how they are.

Marley was as dead as a doornail. This must be distinctly understood; or nothing wonderful will come of the story I am about to relate...

The thing is, message board communication is such a small percentage of our actual communication. Even instant messaging has a more personal touch. We are missing out on tone, volume, body language, inflection, speed, etc.

the problem is that people who post are unable to accept criticism with those that disagree with them and call those "nasty".. When a response could be looked upon either way and ambiguous, many here jump on it and are nasty back. The written wording is tricky and we need to remember that and give others the benefit of doubt before jumping on their hind ends. This is a discussion board and many may not agree with us, but there is learning through that process, even if it hurts. I don't think I'm a nasty responder, but I will disagree and state my rationale as needed and many don't like that. When you ask for advice... "you're going to hear things that are hard and not what you wanted". Ask for it, then don't flame me for stating the obvious difference. All of this IMHO.

Quote from GHGoonetteOh, I don't know...what's Christmas without a bit of "bah Humbug"...?The snotty ones usually contribute to some interesting threads, but I agree, there are ways and ways of saying things. Here, have a cookie! Or would you prefer a kudu?
