Don't understand this weird-a%&! parameterRating: (votes: 0) "Don't give if sbp is less than 70". It's not a mistake. Maybe the med is more for heart failure than bp and the pt tolerates the lower pressure? Comment:
"Don't give if the systolic blood pressure is less than 70."That's not a surprising parameter to see when it comes to detox. We often use clonidine to help with many withdrawal symptoms...however, we don't usually go as low as 70 for cutoff; we'll hold it for a SBP of 80 or less.

I've seen that low for Coreg before in pts with ridiculous low EFs...like the 5-10% range. Not very often though.

Prob diastolic, sounds like the practitioner may be british.

yeah I would just double check the 70. I have never seen it that low.....here it's usually 90. But with a particular patient this could maybe be right. Maybe ask the doc ordering. Just say you were curious and want to learn. Not that you are questioning.....lol some docs love to teach and would be happy to explain--then it will make sense to you--and then come back and tell all of us!! lol

What is your specific question about this parameter? Is it that you feel the SBP cutoff should be higher?

I would clarify that with the doctor. Even if he was british, and meant it as a diastolic, thats a normal value. Higher than mine. lol My diastolic is in the high 50s and low 60s. Look at the patients normal B/Ps too. Maybe suggest a new parameter?

I believe this is patient specific. I do remember the days when a SBP of less than 90 was considered shock.
