RN on your facebook name?

Rating:
(votes: 0)

I've seen some people on facebook have RN after their name. I personally wouldn't do it, I think it's a bit much.

What do you think?
Nope.What for?

Comment:
No, not on Facebook. I understand it on this website or even on Linked In but not on an entertainment site. I agree, it's a bit much.

I think people put far too much personal information on their social networking profiles. Information can be pieced together and, in some cases, used against you. Placing your nursing credentials on a profile is enough to "clue in" some faceless cyber nut job about where you might work, etc. It's not beyond possibility that they could locate you or your family based on information gleaned from a social networking profile. The less info placed there, the better. It's fine to be proud of your accomplishments...just do it with some common sense and an eye toward safety and security.

Comment:
You are not required by Facebook to put in your title, so why the effort to place it there?I see this is common for newly minted RN's but I think its too revealing of your identity. Also, I notice that those with multiple RN license do post with their names like this:John Doe, RN, BSN, CGFNS(Indicating they are CGFNS Certificate holder), USRN (Indicating that they have a US RN license)I think its like posting your resume behind your name.

Text speak takes too long to decipher, I don't even abreviate that much in my own texts, nor do my children if they want me to respond. Back to the OP's question, not on my facebook name. It is in my about me section because, well that is me, however most everyone on my facebook already knows what I do so that's no big issue.

Dumb. We're just RNs, nobody is that impressed.

Does it really matter? If someone is proud of their Licensure, then let them flaunt it. If we don't like it then just ignore it. It seems to me that it would really be a personal decision, its really not that serious.

Wouldn't and didn't. I'm not defined only by RN -but if someone wants to-I'm all for it!
