shadowing a nurse leaderRating: (votes: 0) ![]() Yes, ask her what you want to know and why it works...I bet there are a million things you want to know and why some actions are effective and why some are not. Peace! Comment:
I just did my leadership observation last week, and I had a few questions brewing, but mainly wanted to go with the flow. I asked about her history, how she became interested in becoming a leader, any advice for a new grad, etc. But for the most part, I just let her do her thing and I followed up afterwards. I did keep a small pad of information going - I kept a few notes on the meeting itself, and I also reflected and wrote down how she handled situations or influenced meetings.
Comment:
Ask her what qualities does she look for in a leader. What qualities does she look for in her employees to encourage leadership. What are her strenghts and weeknesses as a leader. Treat it like a job interview........
Comment:
ask about how change occurs - who has to be included and what are the protocols for changing everything from staffing ratios to buying new equipment to doing inservices and competencies.
