Leaving new job for a better offer

1 I accepted a job that I am interested in because I didn't think anything else was going to come up. However, a MUCH better offer is potentially coming my way. I haven't started my first job but if I get the offer for the better job, how would you go about leaving without making waves?

Just put yourself first here. Keep the job you have. If you get a better one resign. I would ask the current job if they want two weeks notice, but if they are training you they are probably happy to let you go right away. DON'T tell the first job you may have another offer. Wait until the second job makes an actual offer. Good luck!

Thank is what I am thining nurse2033. The first job is at a big hospital system and I'm afraid I'll blacklist myself though. Right now I am keeping on the down-low until I get an offer but when I went to the second job it went great.

a two weeks notice and a letter or resignation should be fine, just be as professional and courteous as you can. but don't do anything until you know you've got the job.

Doesn't it feel good to have options! Don't screw it up. Be very very grateful for the op offered in the first job. Be sure you leave with loose ends tied up best you can. Remember, you don't want a do not rehire on your record if you can at all prevent it!

No, I have not given notice until I hear from job number two that I am definitely hired. The difference between these two jobs is stark, and I have my reasons -- one is part time, low wage, other is full time and very well-paid and I felt a lot more comfortable and really loved the culture of the workplace. Won't go into much more detail here but this is for the best for me. This is the first time I have been in this position of getting to choose the best deal, my only other two jobs I've had I've been at one for 5+ years and was at the other for 3+ years.

i recently left a job after 3 months in, literally right after i got off orientation it was awkard but I had to do what was best for me. I must say I tried to do everything the right way but things did get nasty and they wanted 4 weeks notice so I gave it to them then they started treating me badly (not helping me as before, the charge nurse was assigning me to count the pyxis every day, and expecting me to clean up after the whole night shift) so I left a week earlier than planned. AFter 3 months at my new job i must say i dont' regret it at all, i love my new job!
