Patient Observation - What do you use

Hi all,

I am doing a study on nursing patient observation based on researching the routine and tools used. If anyone is interested in helping me, I'd love to hear about how you go about ward patient observation routines (ie do you have a preferred process) and what equipment and consumables you use.

I'm really keen to hear about what works really well and what doesn't, what takes too long/ quick, requires you to walk more than you should, what is hard/ easy to clean, how you transport the equipment around the ward, how you record patient notes.

Thanks
Is a "ward" a "floor"? We don't use that term in the US. I assume you mean ward as a unit, like the med/surg area, is that right? And for what purpose do you mean observation? Patients just being "observed" to make sure they are not really sick, or mental health patients on a hold, or regular patient rounds? I think if you clarified your question you might get the responses you are looking for. Good luck.

Comment:
Thanks, by observations, I mean general patient rounds where patient dteails such as blood pressure, temperature and oxygen saturation are checked etc. "Ward", here in australia a ward is I guess a unit, ie "The Renal Ward" "Oncology Ward" etc.Cheers.
