Is a baby nurse a registered nurse? Thanks in advance
Is that a nurse who is a baby or a nurse who nurses babies?

Comment:
If the 'baby nurse' is employed in a hospital, then she is either a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse.I can't think of any place that still uses that title. We don't say an 'adult nurse', do we?

Comment:
It depends on the context. I'm an RN and I work with babies. So I do consider myself a baby nurse. But, an LPN can work with babies and be considered a baby nurse as well. I don't think there is a specific title of "baby nurse". I do think that most NICU nurses are RNs.

Comment:
The L&D nurses say "baby nurse" at my hospital. It's a large academic medical center.

I'm English so the qualifications for children's nursing, adult nursing, mental health nursing and learning disabilities nursing are all different.

If I'm going to be catching and taking care of the newborn during a delivery I will tell the parents I'm the baby nurse. But I'm also a momma nurse, a gramma nurse, a peds nurse, etc etc.

Unless she is referring to a nanny...I often see on these reality shows where the people will hire a "baby nurse" to help them at home after the baby is born. I'm not sure if they are actually nurses or nannies though.

Quote from adpiRNI think that's probably what she's talking about. And NO they are NOT registered nurses. They're basically nannies with lots of newborn experience.
