Need Career Advice

Hi.

I just want people's opinion on my dilemma. I am a nurse obviously. But I am so confused which path to take: Medicine or furthering my nursing career. I have always wanted to be a doc and feel like god. But now I don't think I can depend on my parents for another 10 years. Yes I want to be a doc but what I need is to be practical and to fulfill my social responsibility of earning for myself and contributing to society at the same time.

In my country there are a lot of doctors who want to be nurses cos nurses abroad earn more in a month than doctors here make in a year. That's my dilemma.

If you were in my place which would you choose?

I'd be the nurse and make more!!! Why would you spend more $$ that you admit you do not have to make less money???

Social responsibility aside, you need to decide which career will make you happiest. Let's face it, while money of course must be a factor, can you truly imagine doing something for 50 years and hating every moment of it? That is a question only you can decide. I'd let that factor in as well.

No that's not my reason for wanting to be M.d. My reason is that I don't want to spend my whole life being ordered around by doctors. I want more autonomy in patient care. But the idea that I have to spend another 10 years in school, without earning for myself, is really scary.
