Lovenox injection...

I understand that the air bubble is to be left in the syringe while giving the injection....however, I have heard it argued as to whether the medication is ready to give without getting further air out of the syringe. I know this is a silly question but I thought I would get the once and for all about Lovenox. Thanks!
YOu can google it......http://tinyurl.com/5sy7v4ehttp://www.lovenox.com/hcp/dosing/lo...istration.aspx

If you look at the instructions on the syringe box it states to leave the air bubble in.

yes, pull the cap off, give the injection, dispose of needle, done. They are made to be easy to give so pts can do it at home. Can you imagine some elderly people trying to get tiny air bubbles out of the syringe, half the meds would end up on the floor! LOL.the air bubble in the bottom is actually there to ensure that the full dose of medication is given.

Comment:
Yes the air-bubble stays in the syringe. Just uncap.. and inject.

Comment:
I've always been told that little air bubble makes a "pocket" that the medicine sits in. not sure if this is true. Its a sub Q injection anyway so not like you are injecting air directly into a vein or artery.

I fing hate giving Lovenox injections. The needles are dull and a pain in the ass to stick in patients. That being said yeah you leave the air in the syringe. You insert the needle into the abdomen then push the plunger all the way down. The air is there to force the Lovenox into the surrounding fat and keep it in there.

Thanks guys...its amazing what people argue over..your the best

Comment:
What is to argue about...every direction you read about it states to leave the air bubble in.
