when can you start? is that a good sign?

Well I had a job interview today and at the end of the interview he asked me when I can start. Is that a good sign or does interviewer always ask that question? I thought it was good sign but when interview was over he said hes going to make a decision pretty soon so now I'm having some doubts.
It's a good sign. He wouldn't have asked that at all if he didn't like you as a candidate. It also helps him make the decisions. Someone available immediately might be better than someone who needs to give notice at another position. Good luck!

I think that it is a good sign, for me I had an interview at a clinic and the manager asked when could I start, I said I needed to give my current employer 2 weeks notice and then I am going to be a camp nurse for a week so I couldn't start untill the 1st of July. Ultimatley I didn't get the job, the manger said while she liked me, they needed someone who could start yesterday

It's a good sign. If he didn't like you, he wouldn't even be concerned about this. He would probably politely dismiss you with a "we'll be in touch" or something.But it's not a guarantee. It's just another thing for them to consider later.Hope you get it!

It can be a good sign, but it can also be just a routine question asked to all applicants. I wouldn't read much into it and just wait for the reply.

Good sign, but doesn't necessarily mean you got the job. I've been asked that in interviews in the past and didn't get the job.

I was asked that in a phone interview (and can start ASAP) which the interviewer said was great, but I never heard anything back. I think it can go either way. Good luck!
