OMG...I Love AN!!!!

10 I have seen so many posts on here where people are complaining about all of the negative posts, and while they do exist, I have also found so much humor on here as well. If I am having an especially hard day many times I find myself laughing hysterically at some of the things I read on here. So, to all of you who bring your whitty personalities and fun sense of humor to the threads of AN - THANK YOU!!
Glad you're here

Thank you. It's nice to be able to converse with nurses while upright, and not laid out in a bed like a dead mackerel!!

Yeah- I'm glad I stayed. Several people PM'd me, and showed me different ways to look at things. It helped. It's been a LONG time since I've had any sort of contact with other people, and I'm sure that had something to do with things as well. I hope I'm still of use.I wonder sometimes when I read how some things have changed - the basics will never change. And, I've had a crash course in a lot of things by way of disability. But I clearly remember working the floor and being in charge, and supervisory positions. I loved what I did, and I miss it. I'd give anything to be able to work again. At least here, my mind is still of some use...even if I have to ask questions about some of the ways things are done now...from what it sounds like, it's a whole different beast being a student- and a lot has to be done afterwards to get skills that I had taken for granted were eventually taught in school. I'm an ADN and never regretted it, or needed anything else....TX had a major nursing shortage, and considered experience as valuable- many of my sups were ADN and diploma nurses. A few showed up from BSN programs.... but they were more likely to go on to MSN programs, which I never had any interest in. I didn't need it for one thing, and I wasn't about to spend more on tuition to still do the same job- that's just how things were then. Anyway- I'll quit babbling

Xtxrn- you can totally babble all you want...and you are worth more than you know! I will also be doing th ADN program. At 42 I need to get that license asap. I will decide later if a BSN is something I want to persue. It's kinda sad really that there are those that would give anything to work and others that would do anything to avoid it. But that's a different thread. My friend is also diabled and would give anything to be able to work. Just keep on keeping on and know in your heart that you are so very much needed!!!! Nursel56- I couldn't agree more. The support given on here is phenominal! It's really like a big huge family in a way. I just can't wait until I can actually put the letters RN after my name and celebrate with you all. Well, it's 2:28am here in Nv and I gotta be to work by 4:00am. You all have a blessed day.:redpinkhe

I'm one of those people who complain about the negativity...BUT I also love AN, if that makes any sense! Some of the negative post have given me much to consider with this career choice and have made me really evaluate whether this is something I want to do or not...and I found that I do! But it's far better to do this self examination rather than to blindly jump into a career. So, while the negativity drains on my excitement as a new nursing student sometimes - I appreciate it as well. And you are right...the people here are funny as ****! I laugh a lot! I've also cried because some people can be really, really mean - but over all, I've loved being here and I respect what nurses do even more than I did before - and that's coming from a daughter who's mother worked as a nurse for 35+ years!Oh, and yeah, XTXRN is one my favs to read :-)

I enjoy AN also..Sometimes my daughter asks me, mommy what are u laughing about? And I try explaining but only nurses would understand and find it funny.XTXRN is one of my faves..

I know this is supposed to be a praise AN thread, but I would love to give a personal 'kudos' to xtxrn as well. I would like to thank you for 'sticking up' for me. That probably wasn't your intent but that's is how I perceived it. Your action did wonders for me especially when I was expressing an opposite and unpopular opinion, along with everyone ganging (although bullies never think they're doing anything hurtful) up on me, and feeling like I may never venture out into the non-nursing threads again. XTXRN, you're one of my faves too!!I agree with the previous posters, AN has a wealth of information and it overshadows the negativity. I guess AN has its days. While visiting another forum, I found that AN has a reputation. The comment, "Let's go AN on this guy and kick him out of the forum," was comical.
