TX looking for nurse w/DWIsRating: (votes: 0) Does she need help, or sentencing? Last edit by xtxrn on Aug 17, '11 Well, she won't have a job so won't be paying her fine, or income taxes,so the state will have more expenses and less revenue. Aside form that, in Texas, you serve only one month for every year you are sentenced, regardless of the crime (so a ten year rape sentence means you are out and free to rape again after ten months), so that explains why she has 'at least three prior' convictions. And actually her story is nothing. Maricopa County (Phoenix area) arrested 1000 people with DUI warrants this 4th of July weekend, and there are 40,000 FELONY warrants outstanding there. That is only one area of one state, and doesn't included 100's of 1000's of misdemeanor warrants nationwide. In Tucson, AZ, they say only 50% of people arrested for DUI show up at court. So, keep 'em busy looking!

Check the state police site. It was even mentioned two nights ago (Sunday) on an MSNCB crime special, the huge rate of repeat rapes in Texas due to mandatory overcrowding releases. But whatever, this is a small example of the sheer numbers of warrants outstanding- most folks are suprised to learn that if you are arrested, and don't show up at court, that the cops don't go looking for you, and that most people with warrants are caught by way of traffic violations. So if you have a warrant? TAKE THE BUS!

Naturally, being a nursing site, the last thing I'd suggest is avoiding your own legal obligation. But the nurse in question won't work again, the question is why the BON gave her a license, so many people in here with minor stuff are denied and revoked, and whatnot.

And she looks crazier' 'n a hoot owl, anyway- I wouldn't want to wake up and find her bending over MY I.V. site...

Once again..... help or sentencing ????

My opinion is that nobdy should be jailed unless they caused physical harm to another person, since being jailed precludes them working, supporting dependents, paying fines, paying taxes. And also that anyone who physically hurts another person needs to be jailed for a long time, without parole, and then be on probation for life. Since I don't know what her history is, I can't determine which category she falls into.

Some people need to be sentenced....to be helped.

She needs both. Psychiatric help if need be and sentenced. You do, you pay. No get out of jail cards allowed.
