Helpful books for Med Calculations

Hello,

I have applied to 3 nursing programs and once accepted, we have to take a math med. calculation test every semester, and you have to get 100% on it, in order to pass. I was curious if there was a certain book that helped you practice and study your med. calculations, I want to get a head start.

We used "Medical Dosage Calculations" by Olsen, Giangrosso, Shrimpton, and Dillon.I am mathophobic, always had a problem with it. This book gives very clear explanations with lots of practice. I got an A- in the class. All our exams had 5 med math questions. I would always panic when I read one (though I always got them correct). It took 3 semesters until I would stop panicing, would just read the question, and realized the questions aren't as complicated as they seem. Got to the point where I could just read the question and know the answer. Often questions are padded with irrelevant information. Memorize the equivalents among apothecary, imperial, and metric. It's actually simple, just memorization of a few equivalents. There is a list in the back of the book.Just see calculations as puzzles and have fun. Good luck!
