Help with injections

I am a new nurse and just started giving injections, insulin and lovenox... I feel like I always hurt them when I inject. Is it better to dart quickly or push in slowly. I try to do it quickly but sometimes I get an "ouch" or wince. Is there a trick to this?
I want to make it as comfortable as possible for my patients. (I work with the elderly)

Thanks for any tips

Bea
Some people always jump or say ouch. Always PINCH the skin and go quickly. Patients have told me about nurses who just dart without pinching the skin....and that really upsets me because it causes much greater pain. Usually the Lovenox burns more after the injection and that is normal.
