Do nurse managers work on Memorial Day?

Rating:
(votes: 0)

Just wondering if most managers are in on holidays?
As a general rule, no. There should be some sort of list for "admin on call" though. That way, should something happen that requires a higher up's notification, there is a clear person defined who should get the call.

Comment:
No, I get a three-day weekend just like normal folks. ;-) However, I'm on call just in case the fecal matter collides with the oscillatory ventilation system.....or state surveyors walk in the building!

Comment:
We will see no nurse managers on any holiday.

Comment:
Yes. I don't get holiday pay. So I will be working. As will my DNS (we have some work to do). As will the administrator.

Comment:
Nope, not where I work. However, she will be on call in case of any kind of emergency.

Comment:
I will be working too

Comment:
I worked Saturday and will be working tomorrow.

I'm not a manager, but I am part of Admin. No, I will not be working on Memorial Day. I got an email telling me that I was expected to take the day off and that I had to use my PTO to do it. Love this. As I love using my PDO when the higher ups decide I should, rather than when I would prefer to. So yes, I have the day off. Sure would prefer to have it off around my actual vacation time in July!

Comment:
What level of management are you referring to.. and what do you mean by in?

Comment:
i'm upper management and yes we do have the day off. however, i'm going in for 1/2 a day just to support my staff and see how can i assist them, while i'm there... wishing everyone in an a great & safe memorial day.... aloha~

When I worked in the hospital setting, never saw one ever on a major holiday. Now that I AM one in an ambulatory setting, I don't have to--but then again, NONE of my staff does, as we're a M-F no weekends/nights/holidays unit!Did used to annoy me that you couldn't find a nurse manager for any holiday, even though they COULD come in and take a different day off just like the rest of the serfs....but wouldn't.
