xanax and ativan?

Is it safe to take xanax and ativan together? I've been prescribed 2 pills of .25mg xanax and 8 .5 mg pills of ativan from two different doctors for extreme flight phobia (haven't taken a flight since '09. The thing is, my flight is in 2 days. I fear that the 2 pills of xanax are not going to be enough and i'll end up freaking out again. Is it safe to mix both. Let's say I take one ativan before the flight, and 2 xanax depending on how if feel on the plane. I don't really look to get high I just don't want to freak the hell out and make everyone freak out too.
