Relocating across the country?

I am currently in Pennsylvania, and my boyfriend of 8 years is finishing up NP school in NYC. He has already received two offers for a brand-spankin-new-NP position which I am very excited for him to receive. But they are located completely across the country: in Oregon. I am not sure when to apply for a RN positions out there. Do I wait until we are out there looking for a house and show my face in the HR offices and leave my resume? Do I send resumes online and just put August 2015 for a start date? I am unsure what would be more fruitful in finding a position? I would like to have something lined up when we finally do make the move, but don't know how to go about it. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated!! Thanks so much!
That depends. I did a move last year from one part of the country to another. I also wanted a job lined up when I arrived. I anticipated that a new facility would want to make sure that I was indeed committed to coming, so I picked the places I wanted to apply to. I started putting out apps a 2-3 months before I left. I did interviews on the phone and via skype. Between 1-2 months out I searched for a rental property in my desired area and committed to a 6 month lease. You already know your desired area.....as your boyfriend already has a job lined up.Did I fly out to view it first? Nope, i had the complex takes snaps and videos to send to me. They were more than happy to do it. Once I had an address I included it on my resume. I put my current and my anticipated and gave a date of arrival. Once I had the second address I had a job in a little over a week. I think having an address ahead of time helped a great deal.Not everyone is willing to go this extra step, because it is loaded with unknowns, but I did and it worked out.
