Encouragement

I've been out of school about almost 6 years now. I tried the NCLEX RN twice and did not pass. I was a bright student both in class and in the hospital. Life happened and I just got discouraged from taking the NCELX RN during that time. I'm back trying to study, but I don't even know where to start. I bought Kaplan, but I'm not sure if its enough.

Has any nurse here waited as long or longer than I and passed? What can you tell me of your experience? What did you do that helped? Materials used?

I'm discouraged, but I have to do this. I love nursing, just a blue day.

Please advice (and please refrain from telling me that I should have taken it sooner...its well sunk in)
Before you dig in to study, I believe that you should call your state's BON. They will have requirements for someone who has been out of school as long as you have. At a bare minimum, I believe a refresher course will be required. At worst, I have read that some BONs require you to retake nursing school after X number of years. I have actually been looking on various BONs' websites recently, looking for that very piece of information but have not been successful in finding the answer.If you do attend a refresher course, that will help guide you in your choice of study materials.
