RN or NP in Aethetics/Derm/Plastics in Indiana

I am an RN in Indiana right now. I went into Nursing to work in Derm/Plastics, but have found it next to impossible to get hired on in this field..Either they do not hire RN's (LPN or MA) or there is an RN there who IS NOT planning on leaving. And I can't seem to get into Surgery without experience...So, I paid on out of pocket expense for a Surgery Course/Clinical with hands on experience...which was unfort not helpful in the job market apparently. I was considering continuing on for my NP in hopes that would open a Derm/Plastic door? What do I need to do to get into this field in Indiana...would the NP be a waste of time? I do not want to just be a FNP. I would only want to do it in Aesthetics.
ANY advice would be great.
