Labor and delivery in Austin Texas

Hello fellow nurses,

I have worked in Labor and Delivery for the last 3 years at UCLA Santa Monica in California. I love my co-workers and my hospital's environment. The patient ratios are fair, they use evidence based practice, the benefits are outstanding and I feel very supported by my peers. However, I am just not that into LA life, and with a family of 2 young kids, schools and family values became top priority. Plus cost of living in California is outrageous!

My husband and I are strongly thinking of moving to Austin. He is a cop and can lateral. However, I know nothing about labor and delivery nursing in Austin. I need help. Can you tell me about hospitals, nursing and pay ( I usually work nights). Also, would you recommend Austin? Why?

Thank you a million times for your time helping me out. ☺️
Well, I'm not an L&D nurse but I lived in Austin for 30 years The best place I've heard about for L&D is St. David's North Austin Medical Center. I worked for another major hospital system in Austin but in Oncology. Austin is awesome. The food, the parks, the music, the activities. It gets super oppressively hot though and the traffic is dismal. Of course, you're in LA so maybe the traffic in Austin would be not that bad for you Let me know if you have any other questions.
