New Hampshire Hospital Reference

1 I live in the seacoast area of New Hampshire, and will be attending nursing school in Sept. Based on your experience, which hospitals would you recommend to work in where you are treated well by staff and management, and can honestly say offers the best culture to work within regardless of the department? I'm still deciding on the specialty area I'd like to pursue, but first and foremost would like to target a hospital where I will be treated well, and fairly as I've read some horror stories where nurses hate their jobs because the management and culture do not promote an environment where nurses are valued by the administration or other members of the staff. Ultimately, I'd like to get to know my patients who are in some kind of recovery, and not be floating constantly. I'd like to keep the stress level down where possible, with a healthy work environment. Thanks!
Your best course of action would be to secure a nurse externship and then a nurse residency at a teaching hospital in Boston.

I guess I was hoping for a reference to a specific hospital in NH that someone could recommend where the culture is positive and the nurses feel good about working there. Can you be a little more specific? Thank you

Where are you going to school, and where will you be doing clinicals? Where do you live? You don't want to look at sea coast hospitals if you live in the north country.

Most new grads find themselves working in the hospital that hires them, if a hospital hires them, without regard to their preferences.

I live in the seacoast of NH - I'm attending a local community college getting my science pre-reqs done. The plan was to go to MCPHS for my post-bac BSN starting this fall 2015. So I'll be commuting (if accepted) to and from Manchester, NH to the seacoast. This is the only post-bac BSN program other than in up in Portland, ME, but deadlines for admission there passed last fall. There's also Great Bay Community College's nursing program and UNH's nursing program FYI in the seacoast. My biggest concern is that I am able to target a hospital that I actually enjoy working in. I'm looking for feedback from nurses who work in the HOSPITALS in this area, that either love it or hate it because of the culture. I'm 50 years old - I want to get through my BSN and into the workforce and love my job. I can deal with stress, and expect it - but I really want to hear back from everyone about their work environment from a management perspective - how the nurses are treated etc. Thanks!!
