Want to be a nurse just no butt wiping or other yucky stuff please

85 Just a heads up to inquiring people who read this site. Nursing involves butt wiping, blood, snot, urine, etc. An RN by your name doesn't mean others deal with yucky realities of patient care.

Also, you will likely have to pay your dues job wise. You probably won't waltz into your dream job straight out of school. And, whatever job you get, you WILL work your rear end off.
I can't handle this much truth this early in the morning.

Haha. Thanks for the reality check OP , love it. Oh so true. To the new comers, butt wiping doesn't even come to mind it's such a non issue. Don't sweat the small stuff!!

Can this be made a sticky and stay permanently at the top of every forum?

But what if it's my DREEEAAAMMMM to wipe butts? Are you saying I won't get lots of butt-wiping experience? What if I work two jobs: can I get sufficient butt-wiping expoure that way? I'm willing to do anything, anything at ALL, if I can get to wipe butts!

I once had a classmate who was struggling with the pre-requs for the RN program. Seriously struggling, so I suggested she go the LPN route (10 months local vo-tec, none of the heavy sciences she was having a hard time managing). She told me that she had a bad back, so she wanted to be an RN so she didn't have to do any of the heavy work, bending or schlepping or hygiene tasks. Since she could delegate "all that stuff" to the LPN or CNA, she wanted to be an RN. ROFL.....she is neither at this time, as she didn't make it through. Shocking.

I read some of these posts and think, some people want to be a nurse, but they just don't want to do any sort of nursing work. It is kind of like saying you want to be a nanny but don't want to do any childcare. Can I become a chef without any of that pesky kitchen work?
