Medical mission organizations

Just posted regarding thinking about short medical mission to Haiti (have contacted Hope for Haiti). Wondering if anyone has any insight in general about various organizations. Ie how do you find out if one is safe and reputable, can supply safety and bottled water, on the up-and-up finacially etc...
