Falsifying degree at work....

I have a problem with a co-worker who insists on using "BSN" when documenting when she has an ADN/ASN. Is this not falsifying a medical document?? She does not have a bachelor's degree nor is she currently enrolled in a bachelor's program. Anybody else ever run across a nurse like this??
Wow.. some people are really low. Those people who do that kind of stuff don't take their job or life seriously. It is WRONG, WRONG,WRONG. Yeah, okay tomorrow I am going to pretend to be a surgeon...and sign papers....righttt....

Comment:
I know various boards of nursing publish pictures of people who pose as nurses, or LVNs that pose as RNs, but I'm not sure about the whole ADN to BSN thing. That's still kinda crummy. If you want to sign BSN then do that extra course work.

Comment:
Did you ask her why she does that? I would point it out on documentation she signed to the charge nurse.

Comment:
Let HR/Nursing supervisor know. They will take care of it.

Comment:
Are you absolutely sure that she doesn't have a BSN? If you are absolutely sure she does not, then let her charge nurse or supervisor know what she's doing. If you are not sure, ask her.

Comment:
I've never seen ANYONE sign BSN or ADN. Just RN. Advanced practice nurses might put MSN or NP, but otherwise why would anyone put their degree on their documentation?

Comment:
I'm with you. I have never seen anyone put their degree on their documentation, that's just too much. Just ask her to make sure she doesn't have a BSN degree. She might have one and no one knows about it. A lot of people don't tell anyone that they have one because most of the time it doesn't make a difference, especially with pay.

Comment:
My coworker signs everything RN BSN, even the narc sheets. She's the only one I've ever seen do that. I guess maybe she just wants everyone to know she has her BSN.

Comment:
If it bothers you make the DON aware that this is happening.

Comment:
ADN/BSN who cares. But when somebody writes she's a BSN and she's not (and vice versa) I don't think I'll get mad, I'll probably laugh at it and feel sorry for that person Although if were super sure she's pretending to be one, I'd tell my charge

Comment:
I have never seen anyone sign with thier degree either. Also just because you have you BSN does not mean you are an RN. She should be signing with her RN.

Comment:
Per your post you seem sure she has a nursing degree of some sort, sat for and passed her boards; while I'm in NO way saying that it's okay to take credit for degrees you don't hold--she is a licensed nurse so I'm not really sure why you care so much. I am way too busy in my work and life to invest that much time and effort worrying about what some one else does.
