ICU vs. assist. nurse mgr......

What do you think, fellow nurses? I have been a nurse for >5 years now, and I'm ready for a change. There is an assistant nurse mgr position open on m current floor, but I am not sure if I want to do this or proceed to ICU. I need to learn. I need to change something. Please fellow nurses - give me your feedback!

FOR ME the answer would be ICU. But that is based on a lot of personal preferences that are mine alone. Has nothing to do with me thinking one is better than the other. I honestly don't know enough about one or the other to give an accurate description of what to expect or how one may be better/worse.Sounds cheesy, but I have found the age old method of sitting down, with pencil and paper, and writing out pros/cons to be the most constructive way of making big decisions. IDK why it works for me, it just does.

I would get the ICU experience first. If you are eventually going into management, I'm sure there will be a place for you in the future.

My vote is for ICU, hands down. There is so much to learn; the challenges are numerous!
