Any recent BOCES grads out there..

If there are any recent BOCES graduates out there that would be kind enough to provide some information about the LPN program that you've completed, that would be excellent. A few other members and I from this site recently got accepted to Southern Westchester BOCES in Elmsford. The school will not provide us with any information and they keep telling us that we have to wait until orientation on August 30th.. (which seems like forever). So I was wondering if you can provide us with any info. If so, it would be very much appreciated. For example, what did you like/dislike about the program? How often did you study each night? Did you work? (if so, how many hrs)? Can you recommend any books or supplies? Thank you SO much!
yes i graduated june 15. it was hard but u can do it. i was a part time it felt like full time.some tips stay on top of ur reading,do the workbook,read all whole chapter not skim,form a study group, if it's not productive for you leave it. don't tell ur friends ur grades don't get on the instucters bad side.take good notes. use a recorder. u can buy vango notes off line.buy used reference books get a nclex pn book. thats what i did good luck!!!!!

Thanks for the reply, Loveit25. I was wondering... do you know how they split up the classes? I know that during the day, there are 90 students that are accepted. I'm sure that they split the 90 students up into two or three different classes. Not sure if they do the same during the night program. Are there any specific reference books that I should get?! Or a drug book? Also, what color scrubs do we wear during clinics? Thanks SO much!!

no night is one whole class.no more than 30 students.yes there are books u should get but it depends on what the teachers has.pay attention to what book theteachers have and the notes will come fron the books word for word.they change books q year.i brought basic pharm,adult health, and a care plan book for clinicals.uniforms are white tops,perry winkle blue a light blue bottoms and white nursing shoes.they will give u a drug book on first day with the rest of ur books.

Hi, I am new to this site also and was just accepted to the part time day program at Boces in northport (Western Suffolk). I have so many questions too, but if someone could just answer a few that would be wonderful. One is do clinicals start right away or do you have some class time before hand? Also do you have to buy books/uniform separate or are they included in tuition? Where is the best place to purchase? How many hours did you study each night? and did you study everyday? Do you have children? I have a newborn daughter..I know it will be tough but I have a great support system. Do they give information about financial aid at orientation? What else does the school supply you with, and what will I have to buy, anything I can get now? I guess a little more than a few lol, but I'm really anxious and just can't wait until orientation, so any information would be so helpful! Thanks all.
