Don't want to commit too soon...

Hi, I'm an old new grad (one of the unlucky ones who has been licensed for over a year and no solid employment) and I recently had several promising interviews. The most promising was for an acute care rehab wing of a nursing home. It is not my first choice out of the locations I interviewed for, but I am afraid I may get a job offer before I hear back from the hospital positions I interviewed for. What is the best way to handle that situation? Do I simply ask for a few days to think about it? Will they ask why I need the time? I feel it would be unwise to tell them that I'm holding out hope for a better position... I am hoping to hear from one of the hospitals by the end of this week...
You can always ask for a few days to think about it. Does not hurt in asking.Good luck from an old new grad to another!
You accept it and if you get another offer you call back and state you got another offer that better suits your needs. Then you thank them profusely and leave it at that.
In this job market, you can't bank on "might" because it might not happen. If an offer comes your way, take it. If a better offer comes after you accept the first offer, THEN worry about what you should do. I can't tell you if you should stay or go from the first job--only you can decide that. All I can suggest is that if you accept the first offer and a better one comes your way that you want instead, be sure to leave/pull out of the first job on the best terms possible.Good luck with your job hunt!
