Choosing a specialtyRating: (votes: 0) Oh man, that is kind of hard to answer. You will have to get rid of some of that shyness. I thought I was shy too but trust me when you walk into that patients room you have to be confident. It is something that will take time to get over but I leave my shyness when I walk in the door. Maybe a position where you don't have to talk to anyone. lol Because in all the nursing positions I know of for the most part you have to stand in front of a patient and speak to them face to face.I wish I could help more. Comment: I think it would be in OR. I am shy too and it's hard for me to adjust here because I am a foreign grad and the nursing practice here is different. I'm gonna start my first nursing job soon and I'm so anxious. I have to overcome my shyness and be confident.Comment: That's a tough one. Are you shy with your patients, your coworkers, or both? If it was one or the other it would be easier to point you in a direction, but if it's both than I think you are just going to have to work through it. There's no nursing job that I know of that requires minimal interaction with both other coworkers and patients.Comment: I'm fairly shy and I work in the ER, lol. I learned to get over my shyness real quick!
