Technology and Patient Care

Before anything every coexists, there must be a need. Peforming a functional analysis of nursing, then a product synthesis of technology products will lead to technology products that can enhance patient outcomes.All too often, we adopt technology for the sake of technology.Consider the nursing process. Would we ever plan an intervention for which we did not have an expected outcome? What would be the success criteria for evaluation?

In ICU, generally without the technology (EKG, ventilators etc), the patient would not exist in an alive state for long.
