Secrets to finding a job?

Hi everyone! I've been looking for a CNA job at hospitals and nursing facilities for about 5 months. I've applied to countless posts online for hospitals and have done walk-ins for nursing facilities but haven't received a phone call from anyone yet. Are they looking for experience? I have my MA as well (and looking for jobs in that field too), but that doesn't seem to matter; it seems like you really do need to know someone to get a job. Should I be doing something different?
I know where I'm doing my lvn clinicals if you don't come in looking professional, with a resume, and have your own pen you won't get an interview. It drives them crazy when people aren't prepared. I've seen them toss several resumes as soon as the cnas leave. They want someone on their game.It's a beautiful day to save lives.
