CNA's in North Alabama

I just recently certified as a CNA in Colorado, but am looking to move to North Alabama to get a second degree BSN. I'm having a hard time finding CNA job postings in the hospitals in Alabama. My family is from the area, and the nurses in the family tell me that there is always a demand for CNA's.

Not too concerned about the lack of job postings, as I will get very aggressive on the job hunt once I've actually moved (I've worked in sales for 10 years and know how to get my foot in doors).

Anyone have any suggestions on good places to work, and what type of pay to expect in the Florence/Muscle Shoals area? Last edit by BDenton78 on Jun 26, '10 : Reason: spelling
a small word of advice, back home in sweet alabama most of the cna jobs i had were either at nursing homes, or working in group homes with the mentally challenged!!! i loved it... most of the hospitals there use lpn's as cna's at the hospitals. there are a lot of nursing homes and group homes that would hire you. but a group home would hire you as a residential aid and you would get trained and take a state test for free to pass medications like an lpn. you still get to keep you cna available in a group home like the nursing homes last i knew. hope this helps

Comment:
I'm in Huntsville and I am working as a PCA which is basically a CNA. I'm also in a BSRN program. I'm working in the hospital on a family practice unit. I got my job while doing my clinicals on this floor. I don't actually have a certification but Huntsville Hospital recognizes the first year of nursing school as your CNA experience. The hospital I work in doesn't advertise CNA positions but rather "Technician" positions. You may want to try looking at those job postings and not just looking for a specific CNA position. A lot of nursing homes and residential homes hire CNAs too around here. I'm not really sure about what folks do in Florence but I'm sure you can find something. meredith
