Working for government agencies - mental health evaluation?

I have heard (and understandably so) that working as a nurse for a government agency such as at a prison there is an extensive pre-hire background investigation. I am wondering if a past history of anxiety would be something that could rule an applicant out?

I wouldn't think so. I am a Department of Army Civilian working at a post hospital. I don't remember the background investigation being particularly arduous. Simple anxiety wouldn't be something they would worry about unless it is limiting to your practice.
Depends on the agency you are going for.
