lpn nclex question

I took the lpn program in 2009/2010. I graduated the program but failed my boards. It scared me and I didn't retake them. I'm now looking to take them again. Do I need to retake the program or can I just take my boards again? I wasn't sure if there was a time cap. I've been trying to research but can't find an answer. Oh and I'm in New York state.
